Painted Axe employs multiple mediums to get the look and "feel" customers seek, incorporating India ink to water slide decals and airbrushing to sponge painting. We have used 1970s wallpaper, children's spin art and vintage pinball machines as inspiration. In our commissioned work, extensive research - contacting musical libraries, photo archives, historians and more - is often required before we even touch the guitar.

Our Process:

• All guitars are sanded to the wood and coated with a sandable automotive primer.
• We use Dupont automotive Basecoat paints for color coats and detail work.

• Once the artwork is completed, all guitars receive several coats of automobile urethane clear coat for a hard, premium gloss finish.
• The guitar and removed parts and hardware are taken to a local guitar shop, where certified technicians reassemble and test the electronics and setup to the customer's wishes.
